To those of you who have known me for a while, thank you all for all of your patience. To those of you who just found me, thank you for your interest. If you enjoy bad things happening to good people and bad things happening to bad people, then you are really going to enjoy this podcast.
The Podcast of Doom is a special project I have been working on for the last six months. It is a podcast that is available on Itunes, among other places. In the podcast I cover disasters, calamities, catastrophes, and man's inhumanity towards man. This is a podcast about human mishap. The purpose of this podcast is to study epic failure analysis. It is also to entertain and educate you. Each podcast will cover a famous disaster in world history, what led up to it, how it happened, how did people fail to stop it or lessen its impact, the casualties caused and what could have been done to make things less disastrous.
Following my introduction, the first episode is The Great Peshtigo Fire of 1871. In the podcast I talk about the horrific fire that engulfed the small town of Peshtigo, Wisconsin. It was the most fatal fire in North American history. More than 1,500 people were killed. The warning signs of the impending fire were apparent for weeks in advance. Yet, no one evacuated the town until the flames began engulfing the buildings. In short time the entire town was surrounded by huge walls of flames and fire-tornadoes, leaving only one route to safety.
I will follow-up this episode with the The Genocide in Rwanda of 1994. Those of us who are old enough to remember will know this as one of the most brutal cases of mass-killing ever. More people were killed in this short window of time (three months) than ever before in recorded history. Find out how a small African nation, using a limited number of guns and a large number of crude weapons, committed the worst case of genocide since World War II.
Episodes 3, 4 and 5 will cover the Man-Eating Tigress of Champawat, the sinking of the USS Indianapolis in the shark-infested waters of the western Pacific, and the airplane crash at Tenerife in the Canary Islands; the worst airplane accident ever. After that, I have a long list of topics, but I will also be open to your suggestions (as long as it fits my criteria of at least 100 deaths and is a defined event with a beginning and ending).
The Podcast of Doom will be a great podcast. If you haven't listened to any podcasts before, please start now. It is a great way to get information on just about any subject. You can listen to recent, relevant discussions on numerous topics and hear some great new music. Just start off at the Itunes Store and navigate to Itunes. If you can't or don't want to use Itunes, let me know. There are other ways to hear podcasts, and you can always listen at your own computer.
If you are a long time viewer of my submissions, I want to thank you, very, very much from the bottom of my heart. If you were expecting something more "medically" related, I am not going to apologize, because I believe you will enjoy this very much. Podcasts are an auditory medium. I will be conveying information through my narrative. I think the subject matter of The Podcast of Doom will work great with this medium. My past work would be difficult to translate to this medium. Will I ever go back? Right now, I should be plenty busy producing podcasts for the near future. But I will keep up on all of my friends work on Deviant Art.

It really combines all of my great passions: writing, speaking, history, disaster, analysis, research and things that go horribly, terribly wrong.
